We would like to offer our thanks to everyone who came to and took part in this year's 'end of season' event on Sunday 6 November, once again setting a new record for this event.
We had well over 1,000 visitors, fine autumn weather, and more rides than ever before offered on a wider selection of vehicles.
The areas reserved for visiting classic vehicles were filled to capacity, and in addition to cars from the Museum offering rides, 38 buses and coaches ran on our 'bus services' (full list here). Between them, they operated over 150 journeys, with over 4,000 passenger journeys made from the Museum terminus, with up to 24 bus departures per hour at peak times.
Open Day 'service' debut vehicles included the Museum's Bristol RE, Lincoln 73, following a summer travelling the County as part of the Lincolnshire Co-operative's 150th anniversary celebrations, Bristol VRs Crosville DVG 270 and Lincolnshire 1904, former Western National Lodekka 1943, a 1948 AEC Regal III new to Burnhams of Worcester, and, making a 300 mile journey to visit the event from the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, Seddon Pennine / Alexander M type Eastern Scottish XS 750A - probably venturing east of the A1 in Lincolnshire for the first time.
Marking 84 years of development since the oldest bus in service ('Lincoln 1'), and representing the ninth separate decade for buses in service was the latest addition to the Delaine Buses fleet, in the form of a new Wright bodied Volvo B9TL.
