Open Day - Easter Sunday 23 March 2008

We would like to offer our thanks to everyone who braved the snow - and the weather warnings - to come to Lincoln for our Easter Open Day, which saw the unusual sight of our buses in the snow.

An early morning decision to keep our options open and see how the weather and road conditions developed proved to be the right answer, as a thaw set in by mid-morning, much effort was put into snow and slush clearance, and - apart from a mid afternoon snow shower - some sunny weather followed.

While, understandably, a number of vistors, their vehicles and stall-holders made the decision not to travel, about 220 visitors reached Lincoln, and were able to travel on a slightly reduced bus service, visit the stalls, and visit our refreshment stand - hot soup was very popular for some reason!

All timetabled bus journeys ran - and on time - although 'extras' were curtailed, and 'country tours' did not run until after lunch. 12 of the planned 18 buses ran in service for the day - to a rapidly re-written schedule to match the available buses and crews to demand. Buses in service included Lincoln Olympian 45, making its first Open Day appearance in preservation, newly restored to pre-deregulation Lincoln City Transport colours.
