AVL 607 - 1939 10hp Morris 10/4M
The Morris 10 was a medium sized car introduced in 1933, the '10' representing the 10 horse power size of the original model. The Series M was introduced in 1938, and was a completely new car with unitary construction and a 37 bhp engine which was also fitted to some MG sports cars, in this variant offering a top speed of around 62 mph.
A conventional chassis with solid axles and leaf springs was used. Saloon bodies with an optional sun roof were made for the civilian market, but a number of pick up bodies were offered during the 1939-45 War. The car was also assembled in India as the Hindustan 10. The model was superced in 1948 by the MO series Morris Oxford.
This car was originally purchased on 21 March 1939 from E W Campion and Sons Ltd for a cost of:-

The vehicle was owned by one Lincoln lady until 1972 covering a total of 57,000 miles before being stored off the road until 1987.
In 1987, it was purchased by Society member, the late Ken Allen. The present owner, Lee Smith, has the car at home, carrying out a full restoration. There is still a lot of welding to be done.
