Car Rally at Lincoln Castle

This year's Rally was held on 10th June and again we were blessed with good weather, which brought out the visitors to the Castle and to our Rally. The sponsor this year was Dennis Horton and Son Ltd, Skoda dealers from Lincoln, which, if our memory serves us correctly is about the only remaining family dealership in Lincolnshire. Their display of Skodas certainly attracted attention and they had plenty of visitors throughout the day.
Our final count of vehicles within the Castle grounds exceeded the two hundred mark and it was only the skill of the parking marshals that allowed us to fit them all in, so thanks to you all! Without you, the event would not be what it is!
All enjoyed the day and, again, we had a huge variety of entries from old Mods on scooters to young ladies in a Morris 1000! Can we say old Mods? Well, yes, since Brian was one in the early 1960's and used to travel from the Midlands to Skeggy to meet the Rockers. We have an old Rocker at the Museum - we mention no names but he has two buses, loves old motorcycles and has had his arm in plaster! Our Town Crier, Terry Stubbins, declared the Rally open and had his photo taken with many of the entrants.
Many thanks to the staff at the Castle and to Lincolnshire County Council for allowing us the use of such a magnificent venue free of charge. Thank you again to all those who put in such a great effort to make this such a successful day, from the "Bag Man" to the "Yellow Coats", and a special mention of thanks to Pam's mum who must be well over 40 and still comes to help!
