SOCIETY VEHICLES

RC 2721 - 1935 BMMO SOS s/d bus

The radiator is now reassembled and looks lovely! The engine oil has been drained and the sump etc cleaned out. Two new rocker box gaskets have been fitted following the engine having a 'paint up' with the rocker boxes cleaned and polished. It too looks super now.

The cab has been stripped out ready for a good clean up and paint with various other parts receiving attention such as the cab door following removal. The nearside roof frame has had some new wood spliced in - the steel dome is now being repaired as necessary.

All the tyres have been removed from the wheels, these being shot blasted and primed.

FHN 833 - 1940 Bristol LSG s/d bus

All the ceiling panels have now been covered with white 'lionide' - a job not without some anxiety! The luggage racks have also received hard wearing vinyl to their interior surface, as a starting point too.

On the exterior the rear corner panels, boot doors, cant rail panels and passenger door area have been receiving more attention prior to painting in top coat which is now underway; ditto with the bonnet top and side. Work is also ongoing with the interior woodwork, some of which needs renovating before re-varnishing. Any volunteers out there?

BFE 419 - 1941 Leyland TD7 d/d bus

All the chassis wiring has now been replaced and the bus 'MOT'd.'

SVL 185 - 1961 Austin Gipsy Fire Tender

Brian and Lee have put a lot of time and effort into cleaning and painting small parts and units of the Gipsy; too many to go into detail. A Cork seal for the rocker box is required - if anyone has one of these spare please contact Brian or Lee. The A70 or Austin Healey 4-cylinder has the same seals.

AFY 376 - 1934 Austin 16-6 Berkeley Saloon

Work has restarted on the 16. So far the rear seat has been removed (not an easy task), the fuel tank and most of the interior trim revealing some woodworm in the plywood panels. Also the spare wheel housing - yet another difficult task!

Note about the Austin 18 York. The York has never been restored but is 95% original with only a small amount of new paintwork carried out some years ago.

MEMBERS' VEHICLES

EVL 549E - 1967 Leyland Panther s/d bus

Following new steel framework being fitted to the windscreen area, the fibreglass frame is back in place. Current work is the repair of the original style of radiator grille panel, which is rather battered, and the stripping of paint off the roof.

VV 8934 - Daimler CWD6 d/d bus

All the vinyls are now on - and what an improvement these make!

DBE 187 - 1946 Bristol K6A d/d bus

Floor treads of the correct type are now in place in the lower deck gangway. Some seats are also being re-trimmed on the lower deck.

OLD 714 - 1954 AEC 3RT d/d bus

Following the rear end rebuild it is now being repainted where necessary. An air pressure problem has been rectified and likewise the rear end lights are now working after some head scratching!

952 JUB 1964 AEC Regent v d/d bus

Recent work has included an upper deck ceiling panel being reinstated, interior electrics, exterior electrics, a new rear registration panel being fitted and new 'dog' rails being manufactured. Work on the platform will include new treadmaster and reinstatement of the pole etc.

The air filter has been serviced and new rocker box gaskets fitted.

FFU 860 - 1949 AEC Regal III s/d bus

Repairs have been made to the engine side water plates, destination box and saloon heater wiring, and the rear axle oil seal. It passed its MOT following the above at the end of August.
