Take a Slice in our Future

Help us to Eat an Elephant

The Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society is planning to extend the Road Transport Museum. The Society was formed in 1959 and our track record in restoring and displaying a wide range of road vehicles has been nationally recognised.

New Museum

Although it is only fourteen years since the exhibition hall was erected, the pace of development of the Society’s activities and the vehicle collection is such that further space is now urgently needed. Active consideration is currently being given to either an extension of the existing premises or possible relocation to a larger site.

Our building development plans have been supported over the last eight years by 'Ellie' our elephant who was born after those responsible thought that the best way to embark on a major project is to take it one slice at a time (like the concept of eating an elephant, although we have not actually attempted this!)

Thus after making a few trunk calls Ellie agreed to provide a scale drawing of herself which could be divided up into slices. Ellie is thrilled to announce that to date over 15,000 slices have been sold at £2 a go giving us £30,000 so far in our Ellie Kitty.

Fortunately Ellie has herself grown over the last eight years with the number of slices available increasing to 30,000. So hopefully with your support Ellie will be able to trumpet continued good progress and requests the pleasure of you taking a slice in our future by contributing £2 to our Ellie Kitty. All those who help in this way can have, if they wish, their individual names added to a permanent feature in the new building which will record our thanks to those who helped to make it possible.
