THA 313G - 1969 Daimler 2.5 Litre V8
The Daimler version of
the Mark II Jaguar, this vehicle is fitted with a rare manual gearbox, since
most were automatics. It also has power assisted steering, disc brakes all
round, heated rear window, reclining front seats and a full leather interior
(an item dropped by Jaguar in later years).
The present owner is only the third from new and the mileage of approximately 63,000 is thought to be genuine. Restoration work has involved the making up of panels and repairs to the inner sills, floor, rear inner arches, boot lid, rear valence, front valence, the fitting of new repair panels to the front light housing, front inner and outer wheel arches, sills and jacking points. Repair panels being readily available at a price!
Work also included a full bare metal respray, new exhaust system, fuel tank, fuel and brake pipes, the cleaning and painting of the complete suspension system, mechanical servicing and repairs as necessary, the fitting of new splined hubs and new wire wheels.
December 1999 - The dashboard is currently being renovated.
April 2000 - The rear bumper has been rechromed and restoration of the dashboard is complete.
July 2004 - Carl has carried out some work on his car ready for the coming Rally season.
July 2006 - Carl has replaced the speedometer cable. He also gave the speedo head a service.
January 2008 - The Daimler has returned to the Museum after being away for a few months.
